Full leather binding

Juist voor het einde van het Elsschotjaar bind ik de "Gedichten" van Elsschot in. Dit is een bibliofiele uitgave van Atelier Ganzeweide. Als boekbinder versnijd ik telkens weer met spijt mooie vellen geitenleer. De vorm van deze vellen zijn organische kunstwerkjes op zich. Voor de gedichten wou ik deze vormen behouden en een "volle lederen band" maken in de meest letterlijke zin van het woord. De blinddrukkaders staan voor de sobere en heldere stijl die Elsschot hanteert in zijn beschrijving van het leven.

Just before the end of the celibration year I bind the "Gedichten" by Elsschot. This is a bibliophile edition from Atelier Ganzeweide. As a bookbinder I cut with regret the beautifull hides of goatleather. The shape of this hides are artworks on his own. For binding this "Gedichten" I tryed to use the natural shape and make a "full leather binding" in the most literal sense. The blind impressions are a metaphor for Willem Elsschots the sober and clear style of writing.
