Reliure Hollandaise: The book

De verzuring is duidelijk zichtbaar. Ook de rug is in slechte staat.

The acidification  of the paper is clearly visible. The back of the book is in poor condition.

Het boek is ingebonden in een papieren omslag, vermoedelijk uit de tweede helft van de 19de eeuw. Het papier is in zeer slechte staat en volledig verzuurd. Het vormt dan ook een directe bedreiging voor het boekblok.

The book is bound in a paper cover, probably from the second half of the 19th century. The paper is in very poor condition and completely acidified. It therefore a direct threat to the book block.

Het boek is een exemplaar van Cosmographia van Petrus Apianus (hier op het titelblad aangeduid als Petri Apiani) . Een prachtige uitgave vol ingekleurde houtsnedes, gedrukt in 1539 bij  Arnoldo Berckmäne te Antwerpen. Kortom een parel van een  boek.

The book is a copy of Cosmographia of Petrus Apianus (on the title page called Petri Apiani). A beautiful edition with full colored woodcuts, printed in 1539 by Arnoldo Bercknäne , Antwerp. A gem of a book.
