Bird in a golden cage: Golden bars

 

Wanneer alles droog is wordt het geheel licht opgeruwd met staalwol.

When everything is dry, the whole is slightly roughened with steel wool.

Op dit papier wordt het goud aangebracht.

At the paper, the gold is applied.

 

 Als basis gebruik ik een Japans papier. Dit papier is tegengekleefd  met een open gaasweefsel. Deze combinatie geeft een zeer sterk resultaat.

I use a Japanese paper. This paper is adhered to an open fabric. This combination gives a very strong result.

Nog tot half mei 2012 is in de galerij van Meander Medisch Centrum ( Afdeling Elisabeth ) Ringweg Randenbroek, 110 te Amersfoort een zestal boeken te zien van Handboekbinderij Toon Van Camp. Deze tentoonstelling met o.a. ook werk van Drs. Nicole van der Schaaf is georganiseerd door Kunst + Vliegwerk (zie http://www.kunstenvliegwerk.info).


Until mid-May 2012 there is, at the gallery of Meander Medical Centre (Department Elisabeth) Ring Randenbroek, 110 in Amersfoort to see half a dozen books of Hand Bookbinding Toon Van Camp. This exhibition also with work of Drs. Nicole van der Schaaf is organized by Art + Vliegwerk (see http://www.kunstenvliegwerk.info).

A Knight of the folding-stick: Puzzling.

 De schutbladen: Voor de schutbladen is er gebruik gemaakt van een materiaaldruk. Deze werd  gemaakt van een soort boombast. Het papier is een handgekleurde bugra.

The endleaves: For the endleaves, there is printed a kind of tree barkk. The paper is a hand colored Bugra.

Het bevestigen van de "rod".

Bekleden van de omslag.

De verbinding tussen het boekblok en de boekomslag is volgens het principe van een "ingekast boek" is gemaakt. Daarom wordt de omslag los van het boekblok afgewerkt en later pas aan elkaar bevestigd.

The connection between the bookblock and the bookcover is made like a "cased binding"​​. Therefore the cover is finished  seperate of the book lock and attached later to each other.

In de  galerij van Meander Medisch Centrum in Amersfoort zal ik deelnemen aan de tentoonstelling van Kunstenvliegwerk. De tentoonstelling loopt van 11 februari tot 15 mei 2012. The knight of the folding-stick: blindtooling

 

Het patroon van hout wordt in de krause balancier opgewarmd en gebruikt om een blinddruk in het leder aan te brengen. De structuur van het hout geeft een wondermooi resultaat.


The pieces of the wood are heated and used to Krause stamping press to make a blind stamp in the leather. The structure of the wood gives a wonderful result.

 

Het kangoeroeleder wordt voorzien van een blinddruk titel. Indien het leder goed geprepareerd is kan dit op eenvoudige wijze voor het bekleden gedaan worden.

The kangaroo leather is fitted with a blind stamped title. If the leather has been properly prepared, it can easily be done befor the leather is put on the book.
